"Antonio listened to our concerns and effectively captured our vision into the design."
Delores Warnell
Frm. Superintendent, Bloomington ISD
Heritage Square Park is a historic icon in the Taylor community. It had the eye of the community on it and we engaged them throughout the design. The project adhered to design guidelines set forth in the Taylor Downtown Master Plan and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Documents were submitted and approved by the committee and the planning department. The design included Texas native plants and xeriscaping to lessen maintenance and reduce consumption of water. Aesthetically pleasing structures and landscaping were used to blend on site, large unsightly utilities organically into the environment. This project was the second phase that completed the transformation of the downtown area that began with Taylor ISD. Planning the work around a busy downtown was important so as not to disrupt its ongoing use.
Improvements at existing park, added amphitheater, restrooms, splashpad, play area, dining area, pavilion, gardens and full landscaping. The project completely terraformed the site from its existing flat terrain to create berms and sunken areas for activities and vistas.
