"His detailed approach, knowledge of school issues, and ability to problem solve and implement solutions led to a great balance of value & aesthetics."

Frm. Superintendent, Bloomington ISD
As part of its 2022 Bond Program, Pflugerville ISD launched a district-wide renovation initiative focused on standardizing materials and finishes across its facilities. Reliance Architecture developed the standardization framework adopted by the District, with the goal of reducing long-term maintenance burdens, simplifying future repairs and replacements, and creating greater consistency across PfISD campuses.
To establish the framework, our team worked closely with the District’s Communications Department to thoroughly evaluate the branding, colors, mascots, and individual identities of each school. The resulting approach established a consistent family of durable, easily maintained materials while allowing each campus to retain a distinct sense of place. Campus-specific color palettes, graphics, and identity elements were thoughtfully integrated into the standardized system so that each school could feel unique while strictly supporting PfISD's broader operational and visual standards.
Completed in four phases, the program provided comprehensive interior upgrades across multiple elementary and middle school campuses. The work focused on flooring, wall finishes, fixtures, wayfinding, campus graphics, and targeted improvements responding to evolving District policies and student needs. Existing plastic laminate wall systems were replaced with tile to provide a more refined and maintainable finish, while refreshed gymnasium paint created brighter, more dynamic environments. New corridor flooring incorporated visual guides to support student movement and improve circulation. Custom boys’ and girls’ graphics provided clear visual cues at restroom vestibules, and large-scale school logos installed outside each cafeteria reinforced campus identity and school pride.
The renovations also introduced dedicated sensory rooms that provide students with calm, supportive spaces for self-regulation. High-impact gypsum wallboard was used to improve durability while maintaining a comfortable, welcoming environment. Lockers were removed at applicable campuses in response to changes in District policy, allowing those areas to be recaptured and incorporated into the updated corridor design.
Together, these improvements created more functional, engaging, and student-centered environments while establishing a repeatable district-wide standard that supports PfISD’s long-term maintenance, replacement, and operational needs.
